What I'm Lovin' Wednesday! {Teacher Tips}

We're getting closer to beginning a new school year! Here are some of my favorite Teacher Tips that make life so much easier in my classroom:
Teacher tips for the classroom in Kindergarten and First Grade
WHISPER BELL
A post with lots of teacher hacks for the classroom!
When the class noise level starts to get a little loud, whack on the 'whisper bell'. The students hear the DING! and instantly stop talking and whisper together in unison "Whisper Bell". Then they go about their work quietly. Seriously works like a charm!

NAME ON PAPER
A post with lots of teacher hacks for the classroom!
 I snagged this great idea from Jessica. Students have to highlight their name on their paper before they put it in the finished work paper tray. If there is no name to highlight, they know that they need to write it!

BOOK HOSPITAL
I don't know why, but students think that you need to drop everything and fix the little rip in the book they're reading. RIGHT AWAY.

When this happens, I just have them put the book into the Book Hospital, and assure them that it will get fixed up!

Idea from Kindertastic.

TIARA
A post with lots of teacher hacks for the classroom!
Another tip from Jessica. When the teacher is working with a small group she is not to be disturbed! When the teacher is wearing the tiara, it means that you may not talk to the teacher or interrupt  their small group UNLESS one of the 3 B's is occurring: you need to barf, you're bleeding, or you need to go to the bathroom.

WASHROOM PASSES
A post with lots of teacher hacks for the classroom!
I hung a magnetic board on the wall next to the class washroom, and added my students' pics using adhesive magnetic tape. Whenever someone needed to use the washroom, they just put their magnet on the door. This made it easy to see that the washroom was occupied, and who was in there!

MAIL
I used to use this pocket chart for my students' mail. I labelled the openings with my students' names...but they could NEVER figure out which pocket of mail was theirs! They always took the mail from the one below their name...frustrating!

So I purchased these crates to use instead! They fit file folders, and I labelled the folders with my students' names.
Blue=boys' mail.
Pink=girls' mail.

Much easier! No messed up mail!
And they're stackable too!
